You Say You Want A (Food) Revolution?

An article in the Sunday March 22, 2009 New York Times shared how advocates of organic and locally grown food have found a receptive ear in the White House. The receptive ears are on the heads of the Obamas - who recently broke ground on a White House vegetable garden...the first one planted at the White House since Eleanor Roosevelt's victory garden.

While the organic, local and sustainable food arena is a negligible percentage of the overall US food industry landscape, it provides an incredible opportunity for entrepreneurs interested in this area.

One example is what David Eson did with his organization Isidore Foods. Isidore Foods began in 2006 as an internet business to provide marketing and selling local farm products. In its first year, Isidore Foods provided community supported agriculture marketing services to three farms and local food delivery services for 200 customers. In 2008, that grew to serving 40 farms and 500 customers. The following clip shares how Isidore Foods capitalized on unmet needs in the marketplace....which is what entrepreneurship is all about!
